What to Bring on Your EPIC North Fishing Adventure

Essentials


  • Hat & Sunglasses – A wide-brim hat and polarized sunglasses to protect against the sun and reduce glare on the water.
  • Sunscreen & Lip Balm – High SPF, water-resistant sunscreen and lip balm with UV protection.
  • Lightweight Clothing – Long-sleeve fishing shirts and lightweight, quick-dry pants or shorts for sun protection and comfort.
  • Footwear – Reef-safe water shoes or non-marking boat shoes.
  • Rain Jacket – Weather can change quickly; a light, waterproof jacket is recommended.
  • Personal Medications – Bring any necessary medications, including seasickness tablets if prone to motion sickness.


Recommended Extras


  • Camera or GoPro – Capture your epic moments, but ensure your device is waterproof or has a protective case.
  • Gloves – Lightweight fishing gloves for handling fish and protecting hands from the sun.
  • Buff/Neck Gaiter – For extra sun and wind protection.
  • Towel & Spare Clothes – Useful for after fishing or if you get wet.
  • Dry Bag – To keep valuables like phones, wallets, and cameras safe from water.


Fishing Gear (Optional)


We provide high-quality fishing gear, but if you have personal favourites, feel free to bring:

  • Rod & Reel – If you prefer to use your own setup.
  • Lures & Tackle – Bring specific lures if you have preferences, but we supply top-tier gear.
  • Braided & Leader Line – Recommended for different fishing techniques and conditions.
  • Pliers & Line Cutters – Useful for handling hooks and cutting line.
  • Tackle Box – If bringing personal lures and terminal tackle, organize them in a compact box.
  • Gimbal Belt or Fighting Belt – If you prefer extra support while fighting large fish.
  • Waterproof Bag or Case – To keep personal gear dry and protected.
  • Fishing Gloves – To improve grip and protect hands from fish spines and sharp tackle. We provide high-quality fishing gear, but if you have personal favourites, feel free to bring:
  • Rod & Reel – If you prefer to use your own setup.
  • Lures & Tackle – Bring specific lures if you have preferences, but we supply top-tier gear.


Food & Drinks


  • Water Bottle – Stay hydrated; we provide water refills.
  • Snacks – Bring personal favourites if desired; we provide meals and refreshments on full-day trips.
  • Meals Provided – Lunch and light refreshments will be provided on the boat. Guests will need to arrange their own breakfast and dinner.
  • Alcohol – Any alcohol must be purchased by guests separately.


Accommodation & Transfers


  • Airport Transfers – We provide transfers to and from Townsville Airport for your convenience.
  • Accommodation – Guests will stay in our comfortable fishing shack, with all linen and services provided.


Outer Reef Excursion


  • Included in 5-Day Trips – A 5-day trip includes one full day at the outer reef.
  • Additional Outer Reef Days – Extra days at the outer reef can be arranged for an additional fuel charge of $600 per day.


Important Notes


  • Weather Considerations – Tours run in most conditions, but safety comes first. We will advise on any weather-related changes.
  • Storage Space – Pack light as space is limited on the boat.
  • Respect the Environment – We promote sustainable fishing practices, so please follow all guidelines.


Terms & Conditions


Booking & Payments


  • A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due 14 days before departure.
  • Payments can be made via bank transfer or credit card. Additional fees may apply for card transactions.
  • Prices are subject to change based on fuel costs, weather conditions, and other unforeseen factors.


Cancellations & Refunds


  • Cancellations made more than 30 days before the trip will receive a full refund minus a 10% administration fee.
  • Cancellations made 14-30 days before departure will receive a 50% refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 14 days before departure are non-refundable.
  • If the trip is cancelled by EPIC North due to weather or safety concerns, guests will be offered a reschedule or full refund.


Liability & Safety


  • All guests must follow the captain’s and guide’s instructions at all times.
  • EPIC North is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen personal belongings.
  • Guests acknowledge that fishing, boating, and outdoor activities come with inherent risks and agree to participate at their own risk.
  • We reserve the right to cancel or modify itineraries due to safety concerns, weather conditions, or unforeseen circumstances.


Alcohol & Conduct


  • Any alcohol must be purchased by guests and consumed responsibly.
  • We have a zero-tolerance policy for disruptive or unsafe behaviour. Guests who fail to comply may be removed from the tour without a refund.


Equipment & Damage


  • All fishing gear and equipment provided by EPIC North must be returned in the same condition. Damage or loss may result in additional charges.
  • Guests using personal gear do so at their own risk.


Travel & Insurance


  • Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover unexpected cancellations, medical emergencies, and trip interruptions.
  • Guests are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary medications, health precautions, and fitness levels required for the trip.


Agreement

By booking a trip with EPIC North, guests agree to these terms and conditions.

We provide high-quality fishing gear suited for the conditions, but if you have specific preferences or personal favourites, you are welcome to bring your own. Our fishing locations target a range of species requiring varied tackle setups, so having the right gear can enhance your experience. Ensure your equipment is saltwater-resistant and properly maintained to withstand the demands of our fishing adventures.

Bringing your own gear? Here is what we recommend


If you prefer to bring your own fishing gear, here’s a list of recommended tackle to ensure you’re fully prepared for an EPIC North fishing adventure.


Rods & Reels

  • Medium to heavy spinning rods (PE 3-5)
  • Baitcasting or overhead setups for jigging and bottom fishing
  • High-quality spinning reels (4000-10000 size) with a smooth drag system
  • Braided line (40-80lb) and fluorocarbon leader (40-100lb) for different fishing conditions


Lures & Tackle

  • Jigs: 80-120g range (minimum 15 per person)
  • Stickbaits: 150mm - 250mm, both sinking and floating (minimum 10 per person)
  • Poppers: Variety of sizes, 120mm - 250mm
  • Vibes: Soft and hard variations
  • Soft Plastics: Assorted styles and colours
  • Jig Heads: Various sizes to match soft plastics


Essential Accessories

  • High-quality pliers and line cutters
  • Tackle box or bag to store lures and tackle
